Tmun Restaurant, Mgarr, Island of Gozo

The Dejeuner Amicale which is organised at Tmun Restaurant in late spring every year is greatly anticipated by the members.  Situated 5 minutes away on foot from where the Malta to Gozo ferry docks, the restaurant is easily accessed without having to think of transport on Gozo. Nowadays a fast ferry also runs from Valletta to Mgarr harbour so getting to the restaurant has been made even easier! The chef is Paul and the front staff are lead by his partner Dora. Paul is one of our favourite chefs. He has been on the radar of our Bailliage since taking part in the "Young Chef of the Year" competition in Malta quite a few years ago!

Paul receiving an award for the "Young Chef of the Year" Competition from the French Ambassador Beatrice de Fraper du Hellen, accompanied by Dora. The competition was held at the Institute of Tourism Studies, St George's Bay in Malta in 2016,  The presentation was made at a Patronal dinner held at the Le Meridien Hotel in St. Julians.

Originally set up in the seaside village of Xlendi on the other side of Gozo by Paul's parents, the restaurant moved to Mgarr Harbour in 2009. As with so many chefs, his enthusiasm for cooking came from watching his mother in the restaurant kitchen from a very young age.

The cuisine is Mediterranean but with a strong Asian influence.
